Before Star Wars<\/em> existed, there was The Day The Earth Stood Still<\/em> (1951). It brought together all that later sci-fi movies strive for: a solid story, believable characters, and groundbreaking special effects, including one of the most iconic robots ever created, Gort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to lower print quantities for American sci-fi B-movies in the UK, this scarce poster is highly sought after amongst collectors. This UK quad features country-unique imagery, focusing on Gort and displaying a bright purple background. This example has been conservation linen-backed with minor restoration and will display beautifully in any sci-fi lover’s home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A peek behind the curtain, this concept design for Eyes Wide Shut<\/em> is the only known printer’s proof to have survived. Designed by Stanley Kubrick\u2019s wife Christiane and daughter Katharina as a tribute to the director after he passed away prior to the release of the film. The evocative red background was chosen as it was Kubrick\u2019s favourite colour, and the simplicity of the design works to be incredibly striking. The film\u2019s lead actors, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, are presented as masks \u2013 a reference to the movie\u2019s mysterious masked cult and themes of trust, betrayal, and secrecy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frangioni is a published author, music businessman, producer, technologist, engineer, philanthropist, and drummer. He has worked with Aerosmith, Shakira, Ringo Starr, Ozzy Osbourne, Robbie Williams, and hundreds more. He is CEO of Modern Drummer Magazine and has several books published, including Clint Eastwood: Icon: The Essential Film Art Collection and Crash: The World\u2019s Greatest Drum Kits, both by Insight Editions. A one-of-a-kind original 24-sheet created for the Italian premiere of Sergio Leone’s The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (1966). This rare poster was produced exclusively for the Italian premiere of the third film in the \u201cMan With No Name\u201d Trilogy, released in December 1966.
This large format poster would present beautifully as the centerpiece of any collection, with artwork by Franco Fiorenzi and Michelangelo Papuzza on a unique silver foil background. Images of Eastwood (Blondie), Eli Wallach (Tuco), and Lee Van Cleef (Angel Eyes) stand as the focus, a combination of the designs seen on the 2-Fogli and 4-Fogli.

Created to stand tall at the world premiere of Sergio Leone\u2019s The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (1966), this set of three large banners show the film\u2019s three stars ready for a Mexican standoff. The black and white images of the Man with No Name (Clint Eastwood), Tuco (Eli Wallach) and Angel Eyes (Lee Van Cleef) create a fitting sense of intimidation around the trio.
These large-format banners are conservation linen-backed, and rarely come to market as a complete set, making this lot highly desirable and one to watch for any fans of the Western genre.

This lot is one of \u201cThe Bare Necessities\u201d for any Walt Disney fans out there \u2013 an original hand-painted animation cel from The Jungle Book (1967). Rendered in gouache and presented in a card mount, the charming cel depicts Mowgli and Baloo dancing during one of the film\u2019s many musical numbers. The lot also features an official Walt Disney sticker that states \u201cThis is an original hand-painted celluloid drawing actually used in a Walt Disney production\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As with many booklets printed prior to WWII, the pages are linen within a paper cover and are in stunning condition despite being over 90 years old.

After a very limited initial release, many of these posters were trimmed for usage on the London Underground, with this being one of those. Unrestored with bright colours and distinctive silver lettering, this is the perfect addition to your Star Wars collection.               <\/p>\n\n\n\n
